Pavilion Remembers: Halo Sky

She smells like death, I want her off of me.

“You want a name? How’s Executioner sound?”

She is surprisingly heavy and it takes all my strength to push her off of me and get back to my feet. She’s quick.

Too quick.

I’ve never faced one as strong and fast as this one. She’s gone again.

“Tell me your name!!!”

Her voice sounds like it’s coming from everywhere, and I can’t pinpoint where she is. There! In the corner of my eye!

She whips a brick at me and I crack my sword batting the projectile away.

“Damn it!!!”

I’m gonna pay for that later.

I climb the wall to the roof where she is waiting and smiling a vile grin. My anger pushes me harder, but I still don’t match her.

Her flesh itself is almost a match for my blade, and the sound of them clashing is like a hammer picking away at a bolder.

I need a second, just one so that I can find an opening

“My name is!”

She hesitates for the slightest moment as she listens for the answer she’s wanted, and that is enough for the Shallow Cry to shatter through her neck, but not enough to finish the job.

She rolls around on the rooftop, trying to hold in her borrowed blood. I stand over her with my busted sword.

“My name? Is none of your concern.”

Her eyes flash up towards me and my Cry replaces hers.

What’s left of my sword is now embedded into the roof, separating the horrid head from the wretched body.

 I am Niel Iago Donavan.

 I am a Theoarm. I kill monsters.
