I’ve lost her.
Not good.
She is behind me gloating.
“Cocky little thing aren’t you? Did you really think you were following me?”
I’ve been wrong this whole time; I thought I was hunting her, but she was hunting me.
“Guess I was just hoping you’d be still and let me cut your head off.”
Please be still and let me cut your head off.
“Little boy, you look like you can barely lift that sword, let alone swing it. What’s your name?”
“Why? What does it matter? You’ll be dead soon anyway.”
“Because I like to know the names of the people I kill. Gives it a personal feel. Why don’t we take this somewhere private? I’d hate for someone to see.”
I grip the sword tight in my hand.
“No one sees me.”
“I saw you. Oh well, I don’t care. We can do this right here and now. I wasn’t planning on staying here long anyway. I just came here to kill someone. Do me a favor? Tell me one thing before you die….”
Her beautiful face begins to twist wicked, aging at first, then stretching as if the skin were being pulled back. Vampire.
Her ears grow long.
Her teeth sharpen into fangs.
She is a monster in form and in deed.
“TeLL mE yOur NamE!!!”
Her once light voice is now like gravel. She lunges at me like an animal.
As fast as I am, she is faster still and I barely dodge out of the way of her long thin clawed fingers. I can’t afford to let her scratch me.
As strong as I am, she is stronger still and I am in her grip, wrestling me to the ground.
“Tell me your name and I will kill you quickly!”
